You've Secured Your Phone. Now Secure Your Messages.

GrapheneOS hardens the device. EM helps harden the conversation.
The gap between secure hardware and private messaging
A hardened phone can still run messaging apps linked to phone numbers, central accounts or third-party infrastructure. End-to-end encryption protects message content, but services may still process connection data such as account identifiers, timing and routing information.
Close the loop with EM
EM is a managed, Matrix-based E2EE messaging environment designed to pair with GrapheneOS:
- Less identity exposure: Registration does not require an email address or phone number.
- A controlled environment: EM does not federate with third-party homeservers, reducing exposure to external relays and routing systems.
- Sovereign hosting: Infrastructure is hosted in Anguilla, subject to applicable local law and jurisdictional considerations.
- Account lifecycle controls: The published EM deletion policy provides for cryptographic shredding of eligible unpaid accounts at Day 373.
Security is a system, not a single app
GrapheneOS protects the handset. EM protects the messaging layer. Together, they give journalists, executives, HNWIs and activists a more coherent approach to private communications, without pretending that any system removes every risk.
